Historical Library Photographs

Subject

Photographs of public libraries in the Taylor Center area and Taylor, Michigan prior to and including the year 1985.

Description

People of all ages have pursued reading in Taylor (or Taylor Center, as it was then known) since at least 1921. These photographs are windows into library moments. Included are Koth's store, where the children's shelf was mobbed by eager 2nd graders when there were new books; a small but single-purpose building in 1929; one lone truck courtesy of the Wayne County Library Service in the 1940s; a grand opening in 1953 when a photographer miraculously got groups of eager children and teens to stand still with books, and various buildings you might even remember since then.
